On Tuesday, December 6, 2011, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Nell Burr; father of David W. Burr, Douglas M. Burr and Dawn L. Powell; grandfather of Heather (John) O'Shaughnessy, Lauren (Gregory) McKeever, Michelle McCloskey and the late Brian McCloskey; great grandfather of Brynn McKeever. Relatives and friends may call at Church of the Resurrection at Riderwood Village, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD, on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m., where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. I fondly remember Dave Burr as a larger than life motor patrolman, Scoutmaster and father with a sense of adventure and wry humor that rarely failed him. I appreciate the hospitality shown me by the Burr family many years ago, and will never forget our trips to Boonsboro, Banneker, and other exotic places.
I extend my sincere condolences to the family on the loss of the patriarch.

As I look around at my Christmas decorations I see so many wooden creations made by Mr.Burr. I remember telling him how much I admired the one's he made for Dawn and sure enough the next time I visited Dawn he had left a collection of handmade decorations that I will treasure forever! We never know what impact we will have - we should just keep doing the right thing and loving each other!
