On Tuesday, February 8, 2011, Edith King Joseph, of Kensington MD. Beloved wife of the late Emile Elias Joseph; mother of Robert E. Joseph, Carole A. Stephens, Deloris J. Higgins and Jody P. Byrd. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), on Friday February 11, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service at Christ Episcopal Church, 4001 Franklin Street, Kensington, MD, on Saturday February 12, at 10 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. Strength; dedication to God, family, church and country; fidelity to each other; unsurpassed love and sacrifice for their children; loyalty to their relatives and friends; wisdom and grace in everything. Edith and her late Husband, Emile, were the epitome of all these virtues as charter members of America's "greatest generation." They will be missed. We are all diminshed by their absence in our lives.

Dear Bobby, Carole, Delores, Jody and Families: Miracle Whip and bologna sandwiches at the kitchen table, birthday parties in the basement, & the special relationship my mom and Aunt Edith had over the years are some of the memories I hold dear.
I know it's with mixed emotions that we let loved ones go; happy for their release from suffering but sad over the void they leave behind. May the peace that surpasses all comprehension fill that void.
