I knew your mother through the board of church representatives for the National Center of Children and Families. She was one of my best friends in that group! She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. I would bring my 3 year old daughter to the meetings and she would enjoy watching her play around. She was quiet and sweet and truly cared about me and my life. I will miss her. You were truly blessed with a wonderful woman for a mother.

Dear Barbara & Ken,

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jeanne's death. Your mother was a wonderful neighbor and friend to our family since the day we moved in next door to her 17 years ago. Two summers ago she came to Melanie's High School graduation party and we reflected on the connections to the University of Virginia in our families. Jeanne was always kind, friendly and considerate to the Snail children over the years and we will greatly miss her presence in our neighborhood.

Our thoughts are with you and your family,

Keith, Melanie, Gregory and Andrew Snail

Dear Barbara and Ken,

Your mother was a constant friend beyond comparison. She was a lady in every sense of its meaning. She was fun and always a lovely companion.

Jeanne cared most of all about both of you, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and kept us apprised of your life's journies.

We are sorrowful, but take solace that God loves her and will hold her close to himself along with others she loved for eternity. We will miss her tremendously.

With love and sympathy,

"Tommie"

I am a co-worker of Barbara Shoemaker and I am so sorry for the family's loss. I can only imagine the void of having such an amazing woman such as Mrs. Hammer gone. My prayers are with you.
