JOHN T. McCARTHY (Age 59)
On Sunday, October 28, 2012, of Takoma Park, MD. Coach McCarthy was known for his love of Lacrosse and coached high school lacrosse at DeMatha and Blair. John is credited with developing the sport throughout Montgomery County. Honored in 2007 as referee of the year by the Washington Area Lacrosse Officials Association (WALOA). He will be honored with their Lifetime Achievement Award in February. Beloved husband of Deborah G. McCarthy; father of Brigid P. McCarthy and Patrick J. McCarthy; son of the late Thomas and Patricia McCarthy of Mineola, NY. The family will receive friends at their home on Friday evening starting at 5 p.m. Visitation at Takoma Park Presbyterian Church, 310 Tulip Avenue, Takoma Park, MD, on Saturday, November 3, at 10 a.m. with Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Interment private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Programs at Takoma Park Presbyterian Church or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, 10400 Little Patuxent Parkway, Suite 270, Columbia, MD 21044.www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

John has a legacy that will extend beyond my own life to that of my son, Lee. Few have ever possessed as big a heart or broad a grin than did "Mac". We will say Kadish for John for years to come.
