On Wednesday, October 2, 2013, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved father of Michael (Kim) Whalen and Maureen Whalen; son of the late Bob and Jane Whalen; grandfather of Cailin Whalen; brother of Matthew Whalen, Mary Ellen Geissenhainer, Claire Whalen, Eileen Whalen, Richard Whalen, Teresa Whalen, Elizabeth Greaney, Thomas Whalen and Catherine Droege. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Friday, 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Western Ave. at Quesada St., NW, Washington, DC, on Saturday, October 5, at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
