MYRTLE M. SMISEK (Age 89)
On Thursday, October 31, 2013, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Smisek; mother of Ron Smisek, Randy Smisek and Jodi Medlin. Also survived by four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and other loving family and friends. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, November 3, 7 to 9 p.m.. Funeral Service at Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 633 Sligo Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment Union Cemetery, Burtonsville, MD. Ron (Bill), I'm saddened to learn of your mother's passing; she was truly a special lady. I recall when I was in the service and home on leave, she would always invite me over for a special dinner before I had to return for duty.

I'm sad to learn of Myrtle's passing. During her years as a member of Sligo Parish in Silver Spring, she gave the church much of her time and talents. She was a good friend to many. God rest her.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this difficult time. Gran was such a beautiful lady on the inside and out, and I am thankful to have grown up knowing her and feeling as if I was always a part of the family. So many wonderful memories. I love all of you dearly.

Gran words cannot express the sadness that I felt when I found out about your passing. You was truly an awesome mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend!! Thanks for allowing me be a part of your family. Tiff always would tell me about how you would ask where I was at with the military and how I was doing. When I would call and talk to you on your birthday you would fill up with so much joy. You have touched many people's hearts and your memory will live on forever. To my Medlin family may the peace that comes from the memories of love shared; comfort you now and in the days ahead. Love you all.
