My family and the Greens lived across the street from each other on Cedar Avenue in Takoma Park for some years when we were children. Beyond that, there has been no contact. We had alike families--that is, an older daughter, middle daughter, and the youngest were sons. Now only the sons and my older sister (in her nineties) remain. So sorry for your loss. The photo in the paper is of a truly lovely women, Regards to all.

Sometimes you are unable to find the right words to describe how you feel I remember thinking how Murry was such a lucky guy to have such an attractive wife.May she rest in peace.

Penny was one of our bright shining stars on this "Good Planet Earth"

To Murry and the Biondo family: I took art classes with Penny at Leisure World. Including the teachers, I never knew an artist who did portrait better than Penny. She was a wonder and yet so very modest. She was my friend and I appreciated her; I hope she knew it. Even when she showed symptoms of age, her talents never lessened. It was a pleasure to know her.

Our dear Penny was so much beloved in our art class!
She was smart and funny and kind and thoughtful - there is not enough room for the good adjectives that would fit her. Nor are there words enough to describe the warm feeling she brought to all of us who worked with her.
I never met a single person who knew her who did not say with enthusiasm how great she was.
The mention of her name always brought a bunch of excitedly delivered compliments as to how masterful her paintings were and how wonderful SHE was, too.
Knowing her was a delight, an honor, and a blessing. She loved her family and it showed. We can see how much you all loved her too. God bless you all.

Mr. Biondo--even though I had never met your beautiful wife, I feel as if she was always with me whenever I was with Sue. I believe your daughter, whom I love dearly as a friend, was an extension of her mother, your wife. Take care of yourself and know that your children love you very much.

Mrs. Biondo was so sweet and thoughtful. She truly enjoyed seeing our children and on our visits with her we got a glimpse of the storytelling I see she was well known for. We are also very fortunate to have her pastels of our children - which will always be a beautiful reminder of her.

The first time I saw Penny was the day she became my aunt.I was 7 and thought she was the most beautiful bride! I was captivated by her southern drawl. My uncle was marrying a princess!!
Although we chatted on occasional phone calls (still loved that southern drawl!),I always regretted that distance kept us from having a closer relationship.
Sweet Penny will be deeply missed by many.

Whenever I called uncle Murray and aunt Penny I would pull up a chair. Murray would be likely to answer the call and, after we chatted about family and politics, he'd say "hey your Aunt Penny wants to say hello". Conversations with my Aunt Penny were never short, boring or without lots of laughs and vivid detail of the lives of the Biondo family. She viewed the world with the same attention to texture and color that she brought to her art. She could spin a yarn like nobody else and I loved her southern drawl and the easy pace with which she let her stories unfold. She savored the time it took to tell a good story. When I first realized she was a talented artist it was no surprise. The pastel portraits she drew of my sons captured the twinkle in their eyes despite being sketched from two photographs. Today those pictures hang in our library and are daily reminders of our wonderful aunt. Penny was a gifted artist, loving aunt, devoted mother, and adoring wife to my uncle Murray. We will miss her greatly.

Of all the sympathy and comfort I received following the loss of my wife (Josephine Whittaker/Biondo), nothing was more profoundly affecting than the wonderful portrait that emanated from Penny's hand and heart. I selected these words for the memorial legend it now bears: "no time on earth is long enough to share with those we love or to prepare our hearts for goodbye". Penny's gift to me is an everlasting blessing...I will be forever grateful.

I remember the first time I saw Penny I thought she was so pretty!SHe was my aunt, after all, and I had never actually seen a blonde woman with a southern accent -except in the movies. We have two beautiful paintings of my children-Liam and Emma- in our home thanks to Penny. The paintings are lifetime treasures, thank you Penny!
Love from your niece,

Almost every year for the past several years we have had Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner with Penny and Mauro at Eileen and Chris' house. We always enjoyed talking and visiting with both of them and listening to the many interesting stories Penny had to tell. She will be greatly missed.
