Tom was my neighbor for 14 years. His dog, Buster, and my dog, Mambo, spent a lot of time outside together. Tom and I would laugh because they would constantly wrap themselves around our legs with their leashes and then got stuck and couldn't free themselves. We spent time talking while he sat in his truck, outside the house, blasting the radio with a drink in his hand, like he was on his own little island. My kids drew pictures for him and ran outside to say hi whenever they saw him. He helped me so much over the last few years and I will never forget what a great person he was. I can still hear his unique laugh and can picture his head tilt back whenever he giggled. I always said goodbye to him with a smile on my face because we were always joking around. Tom, the kids and I will miss seeing you everyday.

My sympathies go out to the family of Tom Ashton. I lived in the house above his for several years and occasionally took care of Buster while he was away. He invited me to ride on his boat once. I never took him up on it...but looking back, I wish I did. I didn’t really know him all that well but the few times we talked I found him to be an easy going and personable fellow. We seemed to agree on lots of things. He was always a helpful neighbor my kids liked him as well. I am genuinely saddened by his loss. Weeeeeell...Safe home Tom!

Tommy, I was thinking of you today and had to chuckle. One of my first memories of you were when you came over on Sunday after church and decided to join us in the swimming pool. With all your Sunday clothes on including dress shoes...funny. One of many memories.

Tom was a great friend since Parkland JHS, over the years our paths crossed many times and always to great effect! We shared art classes at Peary HS and after graduation he told me about his new job at Vitro and soon after I joined him there. Little did I know it would launch my career as well as his. I'll miss you Tom and until we meet again may God grant you eternal Peace my friend.

Tommy, you came into my life 49 years ago and have always been the joy of my life. As a child you were so loving and mischievous. Then you became a man that any mother would be proud to call her son, as I have. You will live in my heart forever and will be my guiding light. You are in a place now where there is no more pain, rest well my angel. Love, Mom
