I met Mr. Wendell roughly 12-years ago when his daughter, Tammy, and I came to visit them on Mother's Day (or was it Father's Day?) in DC. The moment we arrived I felt like I could stay forever...Mr Wendell was so funny and I couldn't stop cracking up and he made me feel like I knew him forever. Mrs. Katie-Lee was so warm and welcoming and if I could have those legs when I'm older...I'd be blessed!! May you rest in peace Mr. Wendell and know that you touched my life that day. Mrs. Katie-Lee, I pray that all your good memories guide you through this difficult time. You and your family are in my prayers. God Bless.

I have know Mr. Butler for almost 20 years as part of the Butler family-really most of my adult life. I have so many great memories of him, I am not sure where to start. I remember I was lucky to live with Mr. and Mrs. Butler when I got a job at the Naval Academy. He always had a joke handy and brought back left-over food from the parties he catered. It was a lot of fun. He always asked about how my family was doing. You could tell that he really cared. When my brother Keith got married, Mr. Butler was the life of the wedding party. So many great memories...
My Dog Xena passed away in November of last year, and even though Mr. Butler was in the hospital and had trouble speaking, he still had the class to ask about Xena and express his condolences. He was a true class act. I feel honored that I was part of his life. Rest in Peace.

Wendell had a wonderful life and family. We feel grateful to have known him and his family. While we know there is nothing we can say or do to alleviate his family's sorrow, we will keep Wendell and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
