The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know James, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Newcomer, III and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!

I am writing to offer my condolences to your family over the loss of your HERO Cpl James H McRae. I lost my son in Iraq on May 6/2007, so I can well understand your pain of losing a loved one so dear.
When things settle down, I recommend that you contact a man named Michael Reagan @

He will draw one portrait of the fallen soldier. He does this for free and will draw any picture of your choosing. He has drawn presidents and other celebrities. My husband and I got one and it has helped me with the healing process. Michael is a truly gifted artist that captures the very essence of the person he draws. I look at my picture everyday and it gives me a connection that I cannot explain.
I pray you will be guided by a higher power to give you peace, comfort and strength in this time.

I went to High School with Heath, Was in the Band with Heath. I was a freshman his senior year so the time that I was able to know him was a bit short, but I can remember the times like yesterday, Josh, Myself, and the other Josh, Heath, and Brittany Doing just about everything we could to drive Mr. Perry insane, and at the same time working our feet and brains to the bone to be the best we could. I would like to offer my sincere gratatude to Heath for assisting in the fight to keep our coutry going, and for doing what he felt was right. That is one thing I could always remember about him, is if he thought it was the right thing to do, or what he needed to do he was GOING to do it no matter what stood in the way. Heath your missed, and we shall all meet up agian some day.

Rhonda, Bill, Amy & Misty,
There are no words to express our sorrow for the loss of your beloved son and brother. The only consolation we have is our faith and knowing Heath wanted to be the best of the best in a career he chose and believed in, and he certainly was, he is our hero.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for including Cortney, Shane, Johnny and me as an extention of your family during this terrible time. I know Cortney is lost as to "what now", but as we sit and talk, we can enjoy, laugh and cry at the wonderful memories each of you have of Heath.
Shane, Jesus, Paul, Birdo, Terry, Austin, Mark, David & Derrek will alway have you as an extended family. It is unfair to have to bury a son, brother, friend and in our case, a future son-in-law. But, we are blessed that we knew Heath since Kindergarten and will always treasure our memories and our new family.
May time with Gods help ease your pain.
We love you all,

I will always treasure in my heart the many memories that we shared. The many summers at Lake Limestone & all the others.
My most recent funny memory was at Thanksgiving a few years ago. Granny had tried a new recipe as she always does, and you decided you were brave enough to try it. It looked alot like an egg casserole, but we weren't sure what it was (haha). You loaded your plate with it then decided you changed you mind. After the family said the blessing I had turned around to talk to someone. You then loaded all the egg casserole on my plate (Yuck).I knew you had done it b/c you had that silly little smirk on your face. I couldn't help but to laugh. There are so many times that I remember that are so special to me.
I always knew that you would become something wonderful, but I never imagined a hero.
Yesterday, was beautiful & I knew that you were watching everything from above b/c before the ceremony started it was sprinkling, and once they removed the flag and began to fold it the sun began to shine very bright. Once the ceremony came to a closure the sky began to drop small tears again. I know that was you just like it was the day the family went to pick you up.
You are a hero in so many ways. You gave you life unselfishly like our father above. You have impacted the hearts of all americans, and have opened the eyes of some who were shut. You will always be a man of honor, bravery and courage. You many now rest from all the hard work that you did for our country.
Your legacy will live on through our family. We love you so much & you will continue to stay in our hearts just as you were doing your duties before.
We love you!

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Mam and Sir it is with much sorry that I send you my deepest sympathy for the loss of your of your son and my Marine. I just recently returned to the states and I learned of your sons tragic end the day before I returned from Japan. I had the pleasure of meeting and serving with this young kid as he stood before me in my office, and also the pleasure of see him develop into a young man, and one hell of a Marine. I just wanted to let you know that as your grieve your not alone. Our Company learned of this and it was like time just stopped. All the Marines in our unit were dealing with the reality in there own way but I just wanted to relay to you and your family that, I know this Marine was your son and nonthing will ever fill that void of him being gone but please know that we as his brothers are honored to have served with him and that just a small piece of us will never be the same.. I've spoken with him on several occasions and each time he was a true Marine in every sense of the word.. I wont make this to long but there over 160 Marines in Japan right now that have lost a brother.. I am glad to have just met this young man and honored that in life he crossed our paths.. I know I don't have to say this but you should be proud of the fact that he had a profound affect on so many people to have been here for such a short time..

To the loved ones of James Heath McRae:
While we do not know any of you personally, my husband and I wish to extend our sympathy in this time of loss. The loss of a child or brother is indeed heartrending. We have experienced it.
It is our prayer that you might be comforted by the knowledge that he died in the service of his country and that his sacrifice has not gone unnoted. We will be eternally grateful for the young men and women of our armed services for being willing to fight for the freedom we enjoy. The days and months ahead will not be easy and you will remain in our prayers. (We are the parents of Kelli Berry)

Misty and Rhonda:
I feel like I knew Heath because you both shared his few failures and many successes with me. Your family has made the ultimate sacrifice for our safety and freedom and it will not be forgotten. I know that there is alot of controversy over this "war", but that has nothing to do with Heath's drive to do what he felt was "the right thing". I love you both and my heart is aching for you. I lost my brother to different circumstances and saw my parents suffer our loss, but it is in a much more painful way as a parent. Just know that he will not be forgotten and that he is with our heavenly father and God will take care of you and our nation. Please don't lose hope...
Love you both and your entire family.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. Our deepest sympathies are with you as you grieve. Oma remembers Heath so well from the time she stayed with his grandmother Nita. She remembers him as a sweet and polite young man. May God bless and comfort you at this time.

I believe that God brings people into our lives for a reason. Heath was brought into our lives so many years ago. From the first moment he walked into the house until just a few months ago when we saw him last he always could bring a laugh and smile to everyone's face.
To Heath, James, Robert, Craig and Dale the five of you formed a bond years ago and brought Christopher into that group and another friendship was formed which included AJ and Cody. There was never a dull moment when you all were together. I remember night after night everyone at our home or at the Webb's home hearing laughter, the music playing or just watching movies. We knew that a deep friendship and bond had formed. Never forget the wonderful times that were had by all of you.
Heath was a part of each of your lives and what a wonderful gift he was. David and I were honored to have him in our life as well as our son's life. He will be truly missed by our family.
Until the day we meet him again may we never forget him and what he stood for.
Rhonda and Bill you had a wonderful son. Our prayers are with you and your family at this time.
