Luke F. Mock, 89, passed away at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. He was the loving husband of Lois L. (Leib) Mock, his wife of 66 years.
Luke was born in Schaefferstown, at his family homestead on August 27, 1926, the son of the late Katie R. (Batzel) and Isaac B. Mock.
He was a faithful member of Saint Luke Lutheran Church, Schaefferstown, where he served in many capacities over the years. He served as treasurer of the Schaefferstown Cemetery Corporation for 67 years.
Luke was retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission where he served as a collector for 21 years. Previously he was a dairy farmer for his family's dairy operation, Valley View Dairy.
In addition to his wife, Luke is survived by his son, Lorin Luke Mock and his wife, Valerie of Jacksonville, Fla.; his daughter, LeAnn Mock Fleagle and her husband, William of Mount Airy, Md.; four grandchildren whom he adored, Bryna Birge and her husband, Ben of Spring Hill, Fla., Jenna Jones and her husband, Kyle of Annapolis, Md., Kaitlin Pomeroy and her husband, Logan of Mount Airy, Md., and Tyler Lucas Fleagle of Mount Airy, Md.; and his dear great-grandson, Isaac Luke Birge of Spring Hill, Fla. Other survivors include his sister, Ruth Sonnen of Richland; brothers, Donald Mock (Anita) of Myerstown and John Mock (Pat) of Lebanon; and many dear nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Miriam Miller, Edith Zehring, and Martha Bennetch; and three brothers, Monroe Mock, Aaron Mock, and Paul Mock.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Saint Luke Lutheran Church, Schaefferstown, followed by a funeral service and celebration of his life at the church.
