om and I were members of the Military Order of the World Wars. I was the editor for the Detroit Chapter newsletter. Dom, Col. Marston and I would meet at Doms house to go over stories. After getting business out of the way, the three of us enjoyed a memorable fellowship. Doms wife once remarked, given our enthusiasm, we sounded like a group of young boys even though I was the youngster, born in 1947, of the Vietnam Era as opposed to the two WWII vets. If memory serves, Dom said he played first base for Yale as an undergrad. Baseball was and still is my favorite sport having played in organized leagues in the 60s. I regret missing his funeral but will always have fond memories of him.

Dominick was such a great influence on my life and a great friend and colleague for 49 years. Our home in Windcliff is the result of visiting him there. I was grateful to have seen him at the 50th xcountry reunion. He will certainly be remembered by the Clark family.

Coach Taddonio was my cross country coach for 4 years at the University of Detroit. During the turbulent 60's, he instilled in me the values of integrity and hard work. I never met a finer man and will always remember Coach Taddonio.

My deepest sympathies to the Taddonio family. Although I never met Mr. Taddonio, I have known his son Paul for many years and have met some of his other children. I'm quite certain that he along with his wife instilled the great qualities I have come to know in Paul. Rest assured that in this time of loss, Mr. Taddonio and his legacy will live on through each of you.

When I was a kid every summer we would load up the "magic van" and head west to Estes Park to visit Grandma and Grandpa. They lived up a steep mountain pass in a home overlooking Rocky Mountain National Park and the YMCA of the Rockies. Every morning Grandma would wake up early to make us homemade cinnamon spice donuts, always slightly burnt which I think made them more charming, while Grandpa helped us scout out the best hiking trail for the day. In the afternoon we would gather on the balcony to watch the afternoon showers wash over Longs Peak and nervously giggle as booming thunder rattled the valley. After every visit Grandma and Grandpa would stand on that same balcony and wave their goodbyes to us as we drove away, only to return the next summer...
Grandpa Taddonio passed on yesterday, just 3 days shy of his 92nd birthday. He was the father of 7, grandfather of 17, master marathon runner, PhD of Kinesiology, and 30 year lieutenant colonel. Despite his 10 year battle with congestive heart failure he remained strong, proud and hopeful to the very end. He bestowed his love of the Rockies to me and all of his grandchildren and I will always remember him waving down to us, only this time, from his new home. Ti amo nonno.

Spread your wings and fly, grandpa.
I'm so very happy that you aren't in any pain and that you're able to watch over us. Grandma is in great hands.

There's never a good time to lose a loved one, but now we have an angel that we know. I feel honored to be a grandchild of this legend. Some of my favorite memories with him are truly from his years in Estes Park, Colorado. He has so many accomplishments to be proud of and I feel blessed to have studied in a field similar to him because he shared several of his old papers with me from his professor years, not too long ago, which are very interesting. One thing I'll never forget is that he taught me to walk/run against traffic when out on the street. He also always wanted me to hold his hand when I was little when we crossed the street.
Blessed are we to be provided such a wonderful life here on Earth with fond memories of grandpa. He sure was a stubborn man...but also very loving, smart, kind, religious, proper, athletic, funny and handsome. Thanks for the memories and for being a great role model. I'll go on a run today in honor of you. We'll celebrate your 92nd birthday soon! Thanks for raising such great children. The support system in our family is outstanding. Rest in peace.
Love always,
Kelly Bug
