Elsie Satterthwaite Hochrein

Hochrein, Elsie Satterthwaite Gregory, Michigan Age 107, died peacefully Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Chelsea. She was born March 12, 1910 in Chelsea, Michigan, the daughter of Ernest John & Addie (Ortbring) Pfitzenmaier. Mrs. Hochrein lived in the Chelsea area all of her life. She was a member of the Covenant Church and the Chelsea High School Class of 1929. Elsie loved animals, especially her dog Shady. She traveled extensively, in the U.S. and abroad. Elsie enjoyed doing needlework, which she called her "fancywork." She loved to play card games, especially euchre. On March 31, 1932, Elsie married Leroy G. Satterthwaite, and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1980. On May 5, 1983, she married Robert Hochrein, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2002. Survivors include two sons, Duane (Judy) Satterthwaite of Rochester and Lee Satterthwaite of Chelsea; one granddaughter, Sheryl (Scott) Heyniger; one grandson, Scott (Toni Wong) Satterthwaite; and one great-grandson, Paul-Franklin Heyniger. She was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar in 1913, and a daughter-in-law, Diane Satterthwaite. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 9, 11:00 am, at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Pastor Anthony Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Vermont Cemetery, Chelsea. The family will receive friends before the funeral from 10-11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Church.
