Karen and Rob, though I didn't personally know your Dad I do remember while growing up in Canton my Dad always said what a humble, caring and honest man your Dad was.The name Paulun equated to everything that was good about growing up back when Canton was still country. He has left a memorable legacy not only in the township but with his family as well. You are fortunate he left you with such full hearts and good memories and we pray you find some comfort in that.

Prayers to you and your family as this difficult time. I was one of Mel's nurses, and he was such a wonderful person to take care of. The staff loved singing with him. It put a smile on all of our faces.

I see that smiling face and it brings back so many memories for me and for Larry. Your dad was an awesome man who was true to himself and true to his community, He cared about people, he cared about his family and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a hero. Some of Larry's best "Chief" memories go back to his days while your dad was still Chief. He will always be in our hearts. Our lives are better because we knew him and the world is better because he was here!

Melvin was a wonderful Sharon Valley Road neighbor to our mother. His kindess, generosity and ready wit made him a welcome caller whenever he stopped by. We have all lost a truly fine gentle-man.

My late husband, Bill Grady, always had the utmost respect for Mel. He was Bill's first "boss" at the Canton fire department. I send my sincere sympathy to his family at this very sad time.
