Richard Jankuski Obituary

Jankuski, Richard A. Lyndon Twp., Michigan Age 76, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Glacier Hills in Ann Arbor. He was born October 3, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Adam Joseph & Julia Loretta (Strokis) Jankuski. Richard served in the US Marie Corps from 1957-1959, and in the reserves until 1963. He and Betty moved to Chelsea in 1975, coming from Oak Forest, IL. He was in sales most of his life, working for Garcia, Tandy/Radio Shack, Outers Laboratories, Snelling & Snelling, and he distributed newspapers for the Ann Arbor News and Chelsea Standard. Richard was the publisher for a wildly accepted fishing newspaper the Illiana News. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and had a passion for fishing. On August 17, 1963, he married Betty Kern, and she preceded him in death, on April 30, 2013, just a few months short of their 50th anniversary. Survivors include her children, Michael Jankuski of Chelsea, Tammy Lake of MT, and Doug (Beth) Jankuski of CO; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Loretta Golaszewski. A graveside service will be held at St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

Richard and Betty fell in love the minute they first met. They spent almost 50 years devoted to each other and their family. Richard cared for Betty during her long battle with cancer. He kept a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. I am sure they will be reunited in the "ever after." I will miss you.
