Just yesterday August 28, 2016, I learned of Bob's passing last January 16th while reading our Alma Mater's publication, Northwestern Magazine. I have many fond memories of commuting (circa 1954) from Maywood, Forest Park and Elmwood Park, IL, to the NU campus in Evanston with our friend and fellow engineering student Donald Darge. We usually had the car radio tuned to WMBI out of Chicago. My wife June and I always enjoy exchanging Christmas cards and receiving the annual "Stronghold" newsletter. Our condolences, but June and I know from experience and faith that that life does not end with one's passing. God bless the Strong family and their "Stronghold!" Dearest Ellie,(family), words can't express our heartache with Bob's passing, it's a mixed feeling of knowing "to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD", and knowing your loss. But we are confident that you will continue to serve the LORD, and joy in his life, that "for Bob to live was Christ and to die was his gain". Sorry we didn't make his service. We didn't hear til Thursday. We will be remembering you and the family before the Lord, we love you!

You will be greatly missed.

Ellie and Family. Words can not express how sorry I am to hear of Bob's passing and that I am unable to be there to celebrate his wonderful life with you all. He was an amazing man which is demonstrated by the loving family he left behind. He was the rare individual who touched everyone's heart he came in contact with. He is the perfect example of how god would like us to love and will be greatly missed by those who had the fortune of knowing him. My heart and prayers go out to you all, family and friends!

Ellie and family
I enjoyed working with Bob at Chrysler and GT Products for many years. He was a great man, loved well, cared deeply and was a great support and example for Christian values at work and home. I am sorry at his passing since we will all miss him but I am sure he received a "welcome home, good and faithful servant" greeting from our Lord Jesus. Bless you all - and may God be very near at this time!

Phoebe Harris (Strong) was my best friend from 1st grade through high school. I spent a good portion of my childhood at the Strong family farmhouse. Dad (Bob) Strong is one of the most kind, gentle, sweet-hearted people I've ever met. He and Mom (Ellie) Strong had one of the best relationships you could hope to experience. The STRONGHOLD was just that...a home that surrounded you with kind, warm strength...a blessing for all who entered. Peace and love to the whole family.

The world would be a better place if every man emulated your example. You are leaving a legacy that will always be remembered and passed down for generations.
I can only imagine your reunion with your father and mother George, Louise and your sister Elinor who have waiting for you.

Dearest Ellie and family; Your "rock" and husband/Dad/Uncle/Grandpa was a true "servant" in the Biblical sense...and what a role model for all of us to follow. I loved him like a brother and tears stream down my face and in my heart thinking about our loss. But, what a grand entry he has made into glory and has heard, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!" having experienced the BEST day of his life so far! May we all be comforted with that thought.

I am one of many lives touched by Bob and Ellie Strong, and I am so grateful God brought their daughter Phoebe into my life as my deeply cherished friend. Bob's love for Jesus radiated every area of his life - he made each person he encountered feel like he/she was important, significant, special. He brought peace with him into each situation. He demonstrated great wisdom, insight and love, and I know he will be deeply missed by his dearly-loved family. I also know he got a big hug and a "Well done!" from Jesus as he crossed the finish line. He ran an amazing race and I'm so thankful for his life and example.
