Rosemary Kemmish Obituary

Kemmish, Rosemary Chelsea, Michigan At the age 82, Rosemary passed away after eating a bowl of ice cream. She was born on June 4, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. She was born June 4, 1933, the daughter of Alexander C. Ewen ( Cantley) and Jennifer (Jenny) Harper-Ewen. On November 27, 1965, Rosemary married James (Jim) V. Kemmish who preceded her in death. Both were members of the Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. Survivors include a daughter, Corrine Kemmish of Ann Arbor, three sons Kenneth (Ken) Kemmish of Southfield, Kyle Kemmish of Florida, and Lee Kemmish and wife Erin of Livonia along with 5 five grandchildren Kayleigh, Briana, Aston, Rylee and Baylee, a nephew Kevin Schaefer and sister-in-law and her daughter Coralys (Corky) and Mona Stamp. Preceding Rosemary's death were her parents, a niece Nancy Walker, daughter-in-law Katherine Kemmish, a sister Ellen Schaefer, a brother-in-law Howard Schaefer, a brother-in-law William (Bill) Stamp, and a niece Mary Stamp. Beginning in her career, Rosemary worked in retail at the Hudson Co. in Detroit, MI. During the experience she took advantage to participate in a Detroit Thanksgiving Day parade. Rosemary moved on to work at Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, MI, where she met her husband James V. Kemmish (Jim). After moving three times, James and Rosemary chose to settle in Chelsea, residing there for over 30 years. After a period of time, she returned to part time work at the University of Michigan, in the Mathematics Department. After retiring from the position, Rosemary chose to stay at home and raise her family. In her spare time Rosemary enjoyed sewing clothes, along with managing the home decor. In addition, she enjoyed collecting antiques and would frequently worked on the restoration process. Rosemary was a voracious reader and it was common for her to participate in book clubs, enjoyed practicing piano, and listening to music, storytelling and News on the Detroit PBS station. Aside from her family, Rosemary's passion was raising and playing with her Newfoundland dogs (Babe and Twill). Committal service was held a the Zion Lutheran Memorial Gardens in Ann Arbor Memorial contribution may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Liberty St., Ann Arbor MI 48103.
