Not sure what to say?

March 4, 2013

As a childhood friend of Jerry's daughter, Jenny, I enjoyed many outdoor trips with Jerry, Bev and family who were kind enough to take me with them on their adventures on the prairie. Jerry led the family in a kind, strong but gentle way and enjoyed sharing his love for the outdoors. In addition, after college, I had the fortunate opportunity to work with Jerry at SD Social Services, where I learned a lot from him about serving others in the community. Jerry was intelligent, fun to be with, and always had a story to tell about his adventures with birds on the prairie. Jerry's spirit will always be with me when I: think of the prairie; serve others; and remember fond childhood memories being included in their family. Go in God's peace by rising up on eagles wings forever, Jerry!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. I will always remember how Uncle Jerry would laugh. Especially when his brother would get mad.

Jerry and his wife Bev were always there for me as I was a childhood friend of their daughter, Gretchen. I will always remember him cheering us on at our various youth activies, showing us pointers on how to shoot a basketball, his love for the outdoors and his infectious laugh and smile. My heart goes out to the Stanford family. Bless you Jerry, I know you are enjoying all your birds now.

I would much rather be reading Jerry's bird articles or seeing him interviewed on TV about the postal system or seeing his smile and twinkle in his eyes than reading his obituary. My heart and prayers are with you, Bev, and the family. You will see him again, and that is a great consolation.
