Saying goodbye to an old but good friend doesn't mean losing sustaining memories, does it? That's what having known her produces, right? Yes, Ellyn is very missed and even when giving way to tears of grief comes cleansing refreshment to lift our spirits. A good friend is borne out of the good and sad times which have made us able to endure this. Proverbs 18:24. Luke 16:9.

All the blessings we've discussed are all true. Ellyn was at or near the epicenter of our local music scene. How many times since "93(+_)" have we all looked around to realize that we have a real scene here and Ellyn made it happen. Of course she wasn't the only one, but many, and I mean many musicians, fans, feel-gooders and just basic folks owe a debt of gratitude to this lady. She was always polite and always eager to promote a scene that has become much more than just music. "Fly on Little Wing"

Ill miss you and the city will miss you. The younger generation wont recognize what you did for them but for those of us still here your contribution to our city will never be forgotten.
Northside Tavern is an Atlanta institution, one of those things that was never planned but meant to happen. You were a magician and a patron saint here on earth......hope you hanging out with BBK right now.

Aunt Ellyn - You were one of the most brutally honest and endearing personalities I have ever known. I thank you for everything. Leigh Leigh, Carol and I adore you...as well as many other people. The tavern endures just like your spirit. Thank you for teaching me things I never knew I learned until recently. I will always remember you!!!

Ellyn's contribution to keeping the blues alive in Atlanta cannot be over emphasized. I played the Northside when her father managed it, and watched over the years as she transformed it in to a very important venue indeed. All my friends in the Atlanta Blues community share many memories playing there. I lost my wife to cancer last year, then Bruce Hampton, now this. To Ellyn's family and many friends deepest condolences. Jim Bullard

Ellyn was the woman that kept the blues alive and well in Atlanta. She helped on a good portion of the wealth of musicians in Atlanta get their chance. Musicians that make it big remember the shot they got and always returned to her establishment that she kept after her dad left this earth and continued to keep the blues alive. Love Ellyn, a beautiful, genuine, loving person will be missed.

I love you Ellyn and will miss you greatly. I'm thankful I got to spend some time with you recently. You have always had a special place in my heart. Without you, I wouldn't be the person I am today...I wouldn't have discovered the blues, I wouldn't have meet Sean and become involved in an important cause. I wouldn't have met some of the wonderful people that I call my friends. I know that a great blues band greeting you at the pearly gates. I'll see you again one day...

Northside was probably one of the first venues in Atlanta I went to when I first came here and I just fell in love with the place. I've got so many great memories of swing dancing and late night after hours fun and so much amazing music and laughter. I even met BB King at the bar once. I turned to my left and there he was. I about passed out. Lol. It's always reminded me of some of the amazing out of the way blues bar hole in the wall spots of Chicago and I've seen many a star and local friends alike step onto that stage. RIP Ellyn.
