God Bless you, Rhubarb and rest your soul. It was because of you that I realized, about 1981 or something that Rock and Roll was dead (disco and punk having merged, thus creating the >blgh< "new wave") and I flipped over to Y106 and thought, "Hey, this guy's cool, maybe I'll listen to country for awhile." Sho''nuf: the Judds - Bocephus - Ronnie Milsap - and (God Bless you again) Pinkard and Bowden started filling up my record shelves. And then, when my best friend, Gary Smith, told me that he'd gone to high school with you, and we met at some car-promo thing you were doing in Conyers - well, again, I stand by what I said about you, Gary McKee and Kaedy Kiely being the abosolute finest DJ's that Atlanta's been blessed to have. You'll be missed, Rhuby!

I moved to Georgia in February of 1991. My welcome to the state was on Y106 FM, by none other than Warren "Rhubarb" Jones. He represented all that was good in Atlanta and country music.

My family showed up after my children got out of school in Florida. We moved into a house in Loganville, that my wife had not even seen when I bought it. Right in the middle of moving in on June 14th, 1991, we stopped everything to go to the Ingles store in Loganville to take a jar of pennies to Rhubarb. My children and I did that again every year till he went off the air in 2008.

I patiently waited for him to return to the air. Guess that's not gonna happen. I still miss you Rhuby!! Rest In Peace, pal. Country music will always make me think of you, because YOU WERE COUNTRY MUSIC!!

Condolences to the family. He was a hell of a man!! There never will be another!!

Rhubarb was a very special friend to me! He was an awesome person who loved his girls more than anything. When he got his Harley with his side car, my husband had bought him one as well. They talked motorcycles and he tried to get me to get one but because of my RA I could only ride with my husband. He introduced me to Reba and a few other people. I quit listening to KICKS when they fired him. He and Dallas made a great morning show team and it just wasn't the same without him!! Loved this man dearly and will truly miss him!! Condolences to Donna and children! I am sure he is still spreading love and sunshine among all the stars who went before him.

I keep re-reading the news articles thinking that at some point I will wake up and this will be a very bad dream. I know that God has his reasons and it is not for us to question but... There will never be another like Rhubarb. He seemed to always find time for everyone. Even in just a quick response to a "How ya been" email. My family had a major event last week and normally I would have emailed Rhubarb about it, but for some reason this time I didn't. That is a regret I will live with. I know Rhubarb "Hey Here"d his way right past St. Peter and is entertaining all the angels. Presley and Callie, I know you already know this, but there has never been two little girls more adored by their daddy. I am sure you know that he will always be watching over you. Pick out something your daddy loved - a special bird, a flower, a butterfly - and use that as your sign that he is there with you at that moment. You will always be in my prayers.

I'm truly saddened by this news. I live just a few blocks from where Rhuby lived in East Cobb. I saw him often in the bank, the cleaners or the food store. I saw him take his maiden voyage on his Harley and he was so happy. He will be missed by many!

April 3, 2017

Very early in his radio career, Rhubarb worked for me as a DJ in Bremen. I could tell this young man had talent and I encouraged him to seek excellence and not become so engrossed in himself he forgot his constituents. Throughout his life, Rhubarb demonstrated he took those words to heart. Nowhere is there another human who felt such deep compassion for his fellow man. Particularly those with need. It was a cold gray day in November 1971 when I called him into my office and said, "Rhubarb, you are from around these parts. I'm a single 28 year old Dude who desperately needs to find a nice lady to date. Find me a date, Rhubarb or you're fired." The day before I was to sit my last gig in Bremen and return to UGA to resume study of Journalism he called. Several had surprised me with a going away party and Rhubarb left me a number to call. Throughout this 45 years we have been friends. I joked with him that he was in the Music Hall of Fame and I had the love of my life, thanks to his taking my threat seriously. Rhubarb, many a tear was shed this morning when we learned of your early passing. There is something so unfair when a humble man of his generosity, compassion, and love for community is taken from us so early in life. But as we know, God always has a plan and more often than not we do not understand. I know where Rhubarb Jones is at this very moment, sitting with the likes of Waylon, George, Johnny, Merle, and Hank. May God shed His mercy and comfort on the family of Rhubarb Jones, my friend, my buddy, and forever a man to whom I owe a great debt for the love of my life. God bless. And he would blush and say, aw shucks.

Rhuby and I worked in the same building at Kennesaw State and seemed to be on the same schedule because we often rode the elevator together.By the time we got to my stop on the third floor, I was laughing at some inane thing he had said. Even though I hadn't seen him since i retired, I will miss knowing he is no longer with us.

Rhubarb, was the Country Music Man! I was in an accident in 1986 where I spent the entire summer as GA Baptist hospital. The Doctor's ask my family what I listen to on the Radio and they said 106.7 Rhubarb and that is what they played while I wan in a Coma.

I always wanted to tell him that. He was a Great DJ and a good Man. We will miss him.

Rhubarb was one of the reasons I moved to Atlanta 20 years ago
to sell Radio advertising for Y106 / Y104.

Rhubarb's passion for the the music and his love for our listeners is what made that station GREAT!

You will be missed my dear friend . . .

May God bless you, your family and friends during this sad time.

As you enter the gates of Heaven, tell God we sad hello and we are doing our best to keep'n it between the ditches!

Love you Rhubarb!

Several years ago at the Cumming Fairgrounds, I had the opportunity to meet Rhubarb. He was very kind and down-to-earth. When he saw my Lions Club vest, he spoke of how the Lions Club helped him get eyeglasses when he was a child.

I listened to him from his "Zoo Crew" days until the day he was sadly let go. IMHO, Atlanta radio has never been the same since.
He made me laugh, smile, and even think.

May the Holy Spirit comfort his family and friends.

Rhubarb, thank you, sir, for sharing your God-given talents with us and may you rest

Rhubarb Jones, you will be greatly missed, my friend! I was saddened to hear the news of your passing, last night. I came to many a live, radio station remotes, (on location), at many different, various places, and saw you frequently, over the years, and I will always cherish those times, and be fond of those memories. Rest in peace, good buddy! You were loved by many, and you will be deeply missed! I think the last time that I saw you, was at Lanierland Music Park, here in Cumming, GA., before it closed, for good, after 36 great years, of good old country music! And before that, I think the last time that I saw you, was at Babyland General Hospital, in Cleveland, GA. You were a legend, and you left a great legacy behind, and you will never be forgotten!

Rhubarb was great on the radio with his knowledge and humor. He was from my "neck of the woods", so to speak, having been born and raised in the West Ga area. After attending West Ga College, as it was known then, he returned to Carrollton and WGC. He will surely be missed but we know he'll be looking down on us from above. I had the pleasure of meeting him one time and an instant friendship was formed. It was fun talking to him at the radio station between songs. He was always kind and pleasant. RIP, my friend.
