Just received Mrs. Sands card in the mail today. I'm so sorry for your loss. Dr. Sands was the best boss I ever had. He was so easy going and explained anything about medicine I asked him. I loved working for him and all of his patients loved him dearly. My parents and grandmother were also his patients. I'm so glad I kept in touch with Dr. & Mrs. Sands over the years as our families grew. I am truly saddened by his passing. The world has lost a great man and doctor. My thoughts and prayers are with the Sands family at this time. Dr. Sands was an angel on earth, now he is an angel in heaven.

We were very saddened to hear of Gene's death. He was our life-long friend ever since we first moved to Detroit to interne at Zieger Osteopathic Hospital. He was my mentor while interning, and afterward when we both were part of the Zieger Clinical Group. He taught me so much medicine and how to really be a doctor. I shall always be grateful for having known him and his family.....they have always been such an integral part of our lives. Gene, when you reach the pearly gates, and are welcomed into heaven, I'm sure you will hear a loud "AMEN"....for you were truly a "mensch." God rest your soul, my brother.

Gene's memory will always be with me. He signed my internship diploma and handed it to me. Dr Sands was the consummate gentleman. I loved making rounds with him at Zieger Hospital.

Dr Sands was an inspiring man who showed such compassion and guidance to his patients and to the nursing staff at St Luke's Hospital. I will miss him greatly. Rest in Peace
