Dr. Thomas Coy

Dr. Thomas J. Coy, 77, of Nashville, Ill., born Dec. 30, 1936, in Keytesville, Mo., departed this life at 10:08 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, after a 12 year battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Dr. Coy graduated from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo., and then went on to attend Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine where he specialized in general surgery and family practice. Dr. Coy and his family moved to Nashville in 1968 where he began practicing medicine with Dr. Ralph Kelly. He continued practicing medicine with Dr. Ralph Kelly and Dr. Gary Goforth for 44 years. Although medicine was his life, he had a passion for boating, golfing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marlene, nee Dome, Coy, whom he married on Aug. 13, 1961, in Brunswick, Mo., and who died Sept. 28, 2007; and his parents, Jasper Newton and Mildred Elizabeth, nee Tiltetson, Coy.

Left to mourn his passing are three children, Megan Holzhauer and husband Brad of Nashville, Ill., Dr. Brad Coy and wife Susan of Carthage, Mo., and Monique Waldman and husband Wayne of Highland, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Morganne Holzhauer (fiance Brett Hackstadt), Braedan and Brendan Holzhauer, Bailee (Jeremy) Bland, Bryce, Brooklyne, Britten and Bella Coy, and Maddie, Mack, Parisse and Payne Waldman; and two great-grandchildren, Landon Thomas and Lydia Coy. Dr. Coy also left many beloved colleagues, patients and friends.

Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Municipal Golf Course and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.campagnafuneralhomes.com

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014, and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, Ill.

Funeral: A funeral procession will depart at 9:45 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, from the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville for 10 a.m. graveside services for family, colleagues and close friends that will be conducted at the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashville, Ill.
