Mrs, Putnam, Very sorry to hear about Mr. Putnam passing. My dad, Chuck Bodle was a great friend of Ray's. I know they are in heaven talking about the good ole days at the fairgrounds.

I am very sorry to hear that Ray passed away.
I started first grade with him at Fairview. We had our picture made together on the front page of B'ham News when we were in 1st grade. I was giving him a Birthday present and he was giving me a box of candy for Valentines Day. Unfortunately, we didn't know one another as adults. I remember Rhonda and maybe she has a copy of the old picture. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.

i am so sorry about rays passing.. my dad bill warren loved him from the old days way back...he passed away in march but asked about ray not long before he passed away.. i took care of him in the hospital a few years ago and enjoyed getting to know him and his family.. you are in my prayers...

I am so sorry for your loss. Ray was a great man and always a joy to be around. He also provided me with some great memories growing up watching him race and hanging out in the garage during the week. My he Rest in Peace with The Lord and remember, we will all see him again one day.

I attended Ensley high school. In Mr McAuthers machine shop new students were paired up with a older hand. I was lucky to draw Ray. Ray asked if I went to the races and I told him I did We became friends that day. . Ray taught me a lot and to this day every time I strike up a arc welder I say thank's Ray for showing me how to do that and many other things. RIP Thank you for the many fond memories... Bobby

Ray was a Special Friend to me and all Racers who knew and competed with him.
We all have Great Ray Stories from BIR,Montgomery,Jackson Miss.and many others. Little Ray needed his Daddy and God called him home.
