Harold Grady Faris

March 11, 1927-Jan 15, 2015 Harold G. Faris passed away January 15, 2015, at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Kaley Faris and his second wife of 49 years, Evelyn Downey Faris; his parents Grady and Gena Faris, sisters Frances Dean, Helen Moss and brother Gene Faris. He is survived by his son Dennis Faris (DeMara), daughter Rebecca Bednasek (Gary); grandchildren Caden Faris, Jason Bednasek (Katherine), Rachel Bednasek; great-grandchildren Miles and Vivian Bednasek, and brother Jerome Faris. Harold was a veteran of World War II serving in the occupation forces in Austria as a member of an Army Engineer Service Company and was the retired owner of Faris Plumbing. He served terms on the City of B'ham Gasfitters Board and the Jefferson County Plumbing Code Board of Appeals. He had over 50 years of service in 3 different Civitan Clubs, serving as President and in various other positions. Harold was an active member of Hilldale Baptist Church for 42 yrs, serving as deacon and in various ministry positions. He was also a volunteer with the Birmingham Baptist Association for many years. Harold enjoyed writing poems and giving them as gifts. Funeral services will be held at 12PM Monday, January 19, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Highway in Trussville, with visitation from 10-11:45 prior to the service.
