Betsey was an inspiration to all of us in our group at Digital. She was competent, dedicated, kind, intelligent and politically astute in an environment that wasn't always open to those attributes especially in a seemingly quiet, pleasant woman. I am so very sad to hear that she has passed. I have such good memories. All caring thoughts to Ron, Daniel and Jeremy.

To Ms. Scharlack's Family,
I cannot believe her passing. I am very sad to hear this news. She was a favorite teacher at Newton North. Her East Asian Studies class was delightful and enlightening. She was always sweet, patient and informative. I will miss her so.

Betsey was my first cousin. She was extremely intelligent but in equal measure humble, loving and kind throughout her life to me, my wife, our children, my sisters and my mother and father. Her untimely and unexpected passing is heartbreaking to all of us and our love and prayers are with her, her husband Ron, sons Jeremy and Daniel, her nephews Martin and Paul and her brother Jeffrey.

Dear Ron and family,
Betsey's Brookline book group misses her acutely-- we won't be the same without her keen insights and warm camaraderie. Her joy in embarking on post-retirement adventures and studies was inspiring, and we wish she'd had time to enjoy even more of them. We will keep her memory alive at our meetings.

Betsy is in my class of guides at the MFA. After the first time I saw her present I decided that her clear style was one I would try to emulate. She was the best guide I had ever seen. . I grew to love her as did my husband on a recent trip to Tuscany. Our condolences to her family. They are losing a treasure.
