I'll miss George as will others. He was a golfing partner, competitor, and winter poker player. If he was in a room or on the course I wanted to be next to him. I always considered George as a friend. People, like George, are a blessing to have known.

I was very saddened to read of George's passing in the Timon newsletter. I knew George at Timon and always marveled at what a great person he was back then. It is obvious from the many comments on his guest book that he stayed that way his entire life.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. George was a good person and a good friend. We taught together at School #6 in the late 60's and early 70"s. George's name brings back many happy times we all had together. He will be missed dearly.

As one of George's Sig brothers I felt a tremendous loss when I heard of his death. A few years ago I had the opportunity to play golf with George and his brother in Erie at one of our Sig reunions. Not only did his athletic talent shine that day, his gentleman personality came to the surface. He was simply a great person. Needless to say we will all miss him. I will remember him in my prayers and he will be a center of our discussions in future Gannon reunions.

During the past year Bishop Timon has witnessed the passing of at least three of its most distinguished athletes, to wit:
1. Tommy Van Remmen
2. Danny Munson and now
3. George Gegenfurtner.
George Gegenfurtner was a giant
of a man,husband,father,grandpa and friend.
He will be long remembered, deeply mourned and sincerely missed!

We should all celebrate the fact that we knew George and enjoyed his company, his outstanding athleticism , and a wit that continued for years...the nickname Nutty didn't just happen!
