Not sure what to say?

Paul Vollmer

Four memories have always stuck out in my mind:

(1) When it was time for me to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, I chose Uncle Jerry to stand up for me and, took his name "Jerome" to be part of my name.

(2) When Uncle Jerry and Aunt Helen went on a picnic with their children (my cousins) and my parents and brothers and sister to Akron Falls County Park, I remember having a small fishing rod in my hands, and fishing from the bank of the stream, when Uncle Jerry came up behind me and, pointed for me to look down at the passing stream, indicating that there was a fish. I looked down into the water and, Uncle Jerry nudged me, causing me to fall into the creek. He and my dad had a good laugh that day and, because of that incident, I have enjoyed fishing at several places in the U.S and overseas (Japan, South Korea and, the Philippines).

(3) My dad (Fred J. Vollmer-deceased) and Uncle Jerry would go out in a boat on Lake Erie and fish, having a good time.

(4) Visiting Uncle Jerry, Aunt Helen and my cousins at a home that they lived in South of Buffalo, just off of Lake Erie.

I will truly miss Uncle Jerry for the person that he was, a kind, loving Uncle and Father who is in my daily prayers (as is Aunt Helen too).

Aunt Helen, cousins and their families, I just found out on Monday about Uncle Jerry passing and I want you all to know how deeply sorry I am. I want to believe that he is reaping his rewards and getting reunited with his brothers, my dad Frank and Uncle Fred. May Uncle Jerry's soul eternally rest in peace. He was a great uncle and mentor and someone whom I will always miss. I am so grateful that I had such a wonderful uncle to talk to and even spend some time with whenever I was in town. May the Good Lord watch over his soul always. He will always be in our prayers.

Dear Mrs. Vollmer, Cindy and family, My parents are lucky to have you for next door neighbors! I know Mr. Vollmer always watched out for them. I'll miss seeing his smile when I go over there now. He was such a gentle man--and always so happy and upbeat! A pleasure to stop and chat with. I hope the memories of his love will outshine the heartache you may be feeling right now...

Helen and family, I was shocked to hear of Jerry's passing. He was such a sweetheart and will be missed. I went to morning Mass and already felt his absence. I know that he is in Heaven and will be keeping watch over all of those he loved and praying for all of those he knew. I was blessed to have known Jerry and he will never be forgotten. Every time I hold the door open at church for daily Mass I will think of him. Loved him and if there is anything I can do, please let me know.
