Victorino ANLLO Obituary

ANLLO - Victorino, MD April 4, 1923 - December 2, 2014. Dr. Victorino Anllo, a retired surgeon specialized in urology, died peacefully Tuesday at the age of 91 at his home in Snyder. A native of Spain, he was born in the village of Cospeito, in the Galician province of Lugo. Dr. Anllo graduated from Santiago de Compostela Medical School in 1949 followed by an internship at Madrid University. He completed his residency in Urology at the Hospital de la Princesa of Madrid in 1955, and came to the USA in 1956 for additional post-graduate training in Urology at Wisconsin General Hospital in Madison. There he met and married the love of his life, Ellen Marie (ne;e Evenson) in 1957. They later settled in Buffalo, NY where he became a US citizen and completed additional training at University of Buffalo and at Millard Fillmore Hospital in order to pass the US Medical Boards. He began private practice in 1963 and served on the staff of both Kenmore Mercy and DeGraff Hospitals until his retirement in 1992. He was Board Certified in Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. During his career he served as Chief of Urology at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, and as Chief of Medical Staff at both Kenmore Mercy and DeGraff Memorial Hospitals. He was also an Associate Clinical Professor of Urology at SUNY Buffalo, and a Past President of The Erie County Medical Society (1985) and the Buffalo Urological Society. After his retirement from clinical practice, he served as Medical Director (VP for Medical Affairs) of DeGraff Memorial Hospital until 1997, and was an Associate Medical Director of the BCBS Utilization Review Department until the year 2000. Despite a distinguished professional career, the accomplishment he was most proud of was his family life, and he cherished his close friends from his early life in Spain as well as in his adopted home of Buffalo, especially those whom he met early on through the Catholic faith community, and his beloved tennis friends who played together well into their 80's. Dr. Anllo was known professionally and personally for his integrity, and also for his warm and ready smile, his intelligence, his generosity and kindness, and gentlemanly charm. He and his wife shared a love for the fine arts, including the opera and classical music, and they travelled extensively together. He was a member of the Advisory Board of the QRS concert series held at Kleinhans Music Hall and was a member of several church congregations over the years, including St. Benedict's and The Newman Center, and most recently attended St. Joseph's University Church where he and his wife enjoyed the lively musical accompaniment to Sunday Mass. He loved tending to his garden, and vacationing at Lake Canandaigua. He was an avid reader and stamp collector. He is predeceased by his beloved brother Germn (Lourdes Vento) Anllo and cherished parents Germn Anllo Verdes and Serafina Vzquez Moran, and is survived by three additional siblings: Mariluz (Ricardo Mene;ndez) Anllo, Gerardo (Marisa Moino) Anllo and Juan ("Paca" Vzquez) Anllo, all residing in Spain along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Ellen Anllo; his five grateful and loving daughters, Ellen "Bambi" Anllo-Bieger (Mike Bieger), Roxane (Rick) Kenline, Lisa Anllo (Steven Long), all of Buffalo, NY, Pilar Anllo of Santa Fe, NM, and Sara Anllo (Kurt Schwarz) of Brooklyn, NY; and by his five dear grandchildren, Victor Bieger of NYC, Marissa Bieger of Palmer, AK, Charlie and Emily Kenline of Buffalo and Naya Anllo-Valdo of Santa Fe, NM. Also surviving in his wife's family are his brother-in-law Donald "Bud" (Sanaye) Evenson of Salinas, CA as well as two nieces. A private service will be held for the family. Flowers graciously declined. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences at www.TheDietrichFuneralHome.com

Hola tía Hellen, Bambi, Roxane, Lisa, Pilar y Sara.

Roxane and Lisa
So sorry for your loss. Knew you from Amherst HS. Lost my father the beginning of this year and have some sense of how devastating this can be. Time helps. Prayers and thoughts for you and your family.

I worked with Dr Anllo at times during my 18 years in surgery at KMH. He was an excellent surgeon, easy to work with, and kind. My thoughts are with his family.
