Brandon
James "Jim" Allan McCluer, 93, of Brandon passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, he graduated from Mississippi State University, and retired as the Director of Purchasing for Jackson, Mississippi. He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. McCluer was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church. He was an avid gardener and animal lover. Jim loved spending time with his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, James Mitchell McCluer; and wife, Mabel Jane McCluer.
Jim is survived by his brother, Sidney (Dorothy); sons, Allan (Ginger), Clayton (Lesa); daughters, Jane Leigh Bechtol (Lee), Mary Ann Temple (Jim), and Sara Nell Blackwell (Bishop); eight grandchildren, Matthew (Megan), Conner (Madison), Parker, Ryan, Nicole, Nelson, Alex, and Ian.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with service to follow. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer's Association, Mississippi Chapter, 196 Charmant Place, Ridgeland, MS 39157; or St. Mark's Methodist Church, 400 Grants Ferry Road, Brandon, MS 39047.
