I did not know Mr. Schach, but my brother knew him as a regular at Hotes Sohio gas station, then later Mr. Schach was mayor of Moreland hills, and hired my brother Wayne into the service department. I think this was in the 70s while I was at KSU. My brother had the utmost regard for this man. I heard his name often over the years.
He just learned of Mr. Schach's passing, this week and told me how he went to the car and reflected on the day Mr. Schach offered him a job at Moreland Hills. Mr Schach talked some about Shaw high school with my brother, as our mom also graduated from Shaw. A good man, a good man, is how my brother summed up knowing Harvey J. Schach.

A "17" fleet is sailing on Walloon Lake today, because of Harvey. He spent years of his time saving the class, and will be greatly missed by all of us. During our long friendship, I don't think I ever saw him without a smile. He cherished his wonderful family, and my heart goes out to them at this sad time.

We have so many memories of Harvey: So generous, so fun loving and full of life. Someone who lived life to it's maximum potential and gave so much to his friends and to his community for so many years. He was a true friend who will be greatly missed. Our prayers to his family.
