Robert Below Obituary

Robert Below
Evansville, Ind.
On Sunday, January 13, 2013, Robert "Bob" Below's decade long battle with Alzheimers ended his 80 years of living on this side of forever.
He lived with his illness just as he lived his entire life, with graceful, silent courage. Bob filled his days with a dedication to faith, family, woodworking and humor. His greatest love was his family, his wife of 58 years, Nancy; and daughters, Bonnie Alcorn and Ronda (David) Espenlaub. His six grandchildren were his joy, he called them all by nicknames he gave them. When he wasn't taking them camping or to vacation in Florida, fixing or building them something in his woodshop, then he was calling them by their nicknames while playfully "strong-arming". The grandchildren he adored are Cregg "Dough" (Jamie) Stambush, Nathan "Nope-Nope" (Jamie) Espenlaub, Tim "Timbob" Alcorn, Drake "Mow Mow" Espenlaub, Meredith "Merebear" (Danielle) Alcorn and Heath "Heefer" Espenlaub. He had four great-grandchildren who always made him smile, even well into his illness. Uncle Bob never greeted any of his numerous nieces and nephews without a pinch, a punch, knuckle pop or a platitude. He was "the baby" of seven siblings who preceded him in death, leaving behind two sisters-in-law, Judy and Mary Below.
On Saturday, January 19, 2013, between 1 and 5 p.m. an open house celebration of Bob's life will take place for family, friends and Hospice caretakers at David and Ronda's home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or to Deaconess Hospice, 600 Mary Street, Evansville, IN 47747.
Pierre Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
