Mark went to St. John's Seminary in Camarillo. That's where I met him back in the 1970s. I pray that he is with Jesus Christ forever!

Rosario and family, I don't know if you remember Paul and I...but, we sure remember you! You took care of all clothing needs for Paul at Yale Waterman. We just heard about the loss of your dear son. We'll be praying for all your family. Did'nt you work at Busy Beei in High School. I remember after we were married andPaul was in the USN, I shopped at that market.
God bless your dear family. Praise God the best is yet to come.

Correction: Regarding my 3/21/16 entry statement about SPHS being my alma mater. Mistakenly interpreted initials SPHS to mean SPHS for St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs; my true alma mater.

Again, condolences, prayers and God's blessings for the entire family. Rest in Peace Mark.

Dear Scognamillo Family:
I just learned of Mark's passing and was very saddened to hear the news. He was a wonderful man and it was my pleasure to have him as my friend at SPHS. We had a lot of fun in the Knights Organization and posed together in some ridiculous best male legs contest for the yearbook. There was no contest here as I looked pretty sad next to him. Although I have not seen him for many years, I kept up with news about him and his family through our neighbor and friend, Sara Dunsworth, daughter of Yale Waterman's co-owner with Rosario. My sincerest condolences to the entire family. May he rest in peace.

I enjoyed my brief meetings with Mark, we played golf a few times and waved as I went by on the number 2 tee of the golf course in Bear Valley Springs. I was surprised and saddened by his passing.

My sympathy rests with Teresa and his daughter Anjolie.

I went to school with Mark at Dodson Jr High and San Pedro High. He was one of the kindest people I knew in our group of friends. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I knew him to be a man of faith and no doubt he Rests in Peace. My sincere condolences to the Scognamillow family.

March 21, 2016

My condolences to the Scognamillo Family; so touched by his passing. I met Mark at the FAA Long Beach Tower where I am still employed and just as he left LGB. Sure wish I had gotten to know him better, because he was the friendliest nicest person who welcomed me upon coming on board. I had no idea he had attended SPHS; that's my alma mater. Rest in peace Mark, your mission is complete; a new beginning commences for you somewhere greater.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's passing through FAA channels. He was highly valued and well respected within FAA. Better still for me, it was my great priveledge to have Mark on my controller team at Long Beach Tower. I appreciated his tremendous integrity and work ethic, and could tell by the passion with which he worked - and how much he cared about his chosen vocation - that he had great faith. Although we had been out of touch since we both Left Long Beach we did have one opportunity to cross paths while in his his accident litigation position. He was clearly the same-ole friendly, smiling Mark whose integrity and faith shined through as always. My condolences and prayers go out to all of Mark's family, friends, and the many others he touched without him ever realizing. I will always be grateful for having known Mark and will remember him fondly.

March 19, 2016

I went to Pedro High with Mark... When I think of him these words come to mind... very smart, kind, athlete, funny, mischievous, handsome, spiritual, and had the ability to achieve whatever goals he set for himself. I am very sorry for your loss.

We remember the "Scogs & Co." sign at the front door and have wonderful memories of Mark and the Company of Scognamillos, whom we consider family through our close connection through Mike & Barb. I remember Mark galavanting around SPHS giving girls a ride on his back! I was lucky enough to join him and a group for a quick flight for lunch in Palm Springs...He was so much fun to be around! That smile was permanently affixed to his face. I thank the Lord I was able to catch up with him at Aubrey's wedding (you look like him, dolly!). Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, knowing his is in the company of Andrea now awaiting all of our arrivals and resting in the peace of God. All our love to the Scogs Co.,

I was so sorry to hear the news of Mark's passing. My thoughts were immediately taken back to Senior Court at San Pedro High School, where Mark and I would spend time talking about subjects like faith and integrity. Maybe not typical conversation for high school students, but Mark was a young man of good character and always eager to share his feelings about his faith. I am glad to know that he continued to love flying! While we were still in high school, he flew a small group of us to Catalina on a beautiful, clear day in Southern California. What was a little "scary" for me that day, is now a treasured memory of a fortunate life and time, in the company of the finest people. Mark has touched many lives, including mine, and we have all been blessed to know him. My prayers and thoughts are with the entire Scognamillo Family, but particularly with Mark's remarkable parents, Nancy and Rosario. I hope your grief lasts "but a moment" because life is eternal and you will be reunited with your children in the next life. There, with God, you will find a continuation of love and happiness with them forever.

March 17, 2016

Mark and I were friends--in a very tight group that had almost every class together--while we attended Dodson Junior High. I will always remember "The Shadow" radio show project in Mr. Hood's class, working together on La Vista, etc...with Barry, Jodie, Ross, Terri and the rest of the gang. While we lost track of each other after our swim team days in high school, I will always remember his big smile and mischievous sense of humor. May God give comfort to his family and loved ones he leaves behind.

An Eagles song came on the radio in my car just last Thursday - it made me smile and I mentioned to my partner that I had my first "slow" dance to that song.....with Mark all those years ago. I went to Dodson Jr High and San Pedro High with Mark and he was always kind and warm. I know he will be greatly missed by his family and friends and although we have not been in touch for years....my heart aches a bit tonight. Sending my thoughts and prayers to the Scognamillo Family.

Mark was such a kind person with a heart of gold and a sense of humor to match. I have only warm memories of him during our Dodson and SPHS school days and of invading your house whenever I was at Susan Head's house playing. Your door was always open to whatever kids were around! I'm praying for comfort for all of the Scogs - I'm so very sorry.

Mark was one of my best friends at Dodson Jr High and San Pedro High. He got his pilot's license in High School and he took me on his first "night flight". We flew up the Calif coast to Oxnard when I hear over the radio, "You have entered restrictive military air space..." When Mark saw the look on my face, he just laughed and said, "Relax. What are they going to do? Shoot us down." He always loved pushing the envelope and I will miss him. And I will keep The Scogs in my prayers. Mark had the nicest parents with such grace and class in a chaotic house of all boys.
