Tuffy, May you rest in peace! We have known you, since the Clay St Gang & first grade. You played baseball with Dave. And Dave looked forward to talking w/you at every reunion! You have touched the hearts of so many young men throughout your coaching career! And, you most likely changed the direction, of many of these young men that may have gone astray w/o your guidance & advice! Rest in peace--you will be missed! Mel & Dave Swisher

Thanks Coach, the number of boys you helped mold into men is immeasurable. It was such an honor to have played on team under you, a true loss to Tecumseh students. I hope you can find peace on the other side and your family can find it here knowing you have moved onto better place at this time.

Rest in peace, Tuffy, because the competition and battle are over; the joys you brought to others can now be everlasting for you. He and I were buddies in his backyard fantasy baseball games on Troy's Clay St.; and we competed in the Ross St., sound end "games." What a memory: he on my bike handlebars; me with eyes closed; he directing me where and how to steer! Tuffy was a "mojo" guy -- a guy we all were fortunate to know and enjoy.

Just so many memories of him. Most all of them tied to playing football under him. I can still see him chewing the tape, yelling at whoever for a play gone bad and giving a kind word when it was needed. A very sad day for Fairborn Alumni and everyone that knew Tuffy. You will be missed coach! R.I.P.

A great man, a great coach, taught us to be great players and men through this road of life. He prepared us to make the sacrifices required to be professionals and conquer whatever our dreams should be. God bless you Coach Thompson.

I first met Tuffy at work. As a new teacher to Fairborn High School, I had no idea that the man at my door, calling out for a student, was a co-worker. His gruff, determined voice, and the surprise of his entrance made me jump in my seat about six inches. Scared me to death but made me laugh at the same time. When I told Tuffy the story later, he laughed and laughed. I was blessed to have known him and worked with him. He will be missed.

One of those voices defining right and wrong to me to this day. It is a special person who gives wisdom to young people that sustains them through life. Thank You, Coach Thompson.
