Martin Angelo Rubino, 83, of Laurel, DE., passed away at his home on Friday, March 14, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 3, 1930, he was the son of the late Carmine J., Sr. & Emma Raffo Rubino.

A graduate of Manhattan College High School, he served his country in the U.S. Navy from July 1948 to July 1952. In May 1951, he married the former Loretta Mitchell making their home in Bethel, DE., prior to moving to Laurel. Mr. Rubino had worked as a pipe fitter & plumber at Dover Air Force Base and various oil refineries in Delaware City from 1952 through 1961; then he began a 26 year career with the U.S. Postal Service in Laurel as a letter carrier, retiring in 1987.

His love of family was his true passion in life. He was a true fan of Notre Dame football and a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford and American Legion Post #19 in Laurel.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son - Richard Rubino, Sr.; a brother - Anthony Rubino & a sister - Teresa Gaal. Mr. Rubino is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Loretta A. Rubino, Laurel; 3 sons - Mark Rubino & his wife Brenda, Laurel, Steve Rubino & his wife Lil, Laurel & Dean Rubino & his wife Linda, Georgetown; 2 daughters - Terry Cline & her husband Fred & Donna Willin all of Laurel; 1 brother - Carmine Rubino, Long Island, NY; a daughter-in-law - Maureen Rubino & a God daughter - Angie Calio, both of Laurel; 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 532 E. Stein Highway Seaford, DE 19973 on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Rev. George Blasick, C.S.A.R. will be the celebrant. A viewing will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street Laurel, DE., 19956 on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Cemetery in Blades. Memorial contributions may be made to St, Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN., 38105.
