Alvoid and I were in the band together. We were good friends. He always used to tease me about one thing or another and we just would laugh and have a great time. When visiting my dad one year I ran into Alvoid at the hospital. We hugged and talked for a long time. We soon discovered that we were Christians and when I told Alvoid that I was a minister and pastor at a church in Maine he was so happy and excited. He always remained one of my dearest friends and I am thankful for the many memories that are stored in my heart. My deepest sympathies go out to his family. Can't wait to see him again one day. Blessings to you all!

To the Bannister family,
It was a privilege to know Al as our colleague at Riddle Hospital for so many years and we so enjoyed seeing him when he visited the Pharmacy department. He always had a kind word and we looked forward to seeing him, this cheerful, sweet man. I am sorry for your loss but I know we will see him in heaven one day again. God bless and uphold your family as you mourn the loss of this wonderful man, my condolences and sympathy to you all.

When I heard that Deacon Alvoid went home to be with the Lord, my mind went back to the last time I saw him. He prayed for my husband and I during a very difficult time in our lives. JOANN AND family...i was in shock when i saw Shortys obituary.He was a wonderful man and a faithful friend.I can remember he and big jonh laughing together.H was so caring to me after johnny passed.He knew exactly what to say to me whenever he saw me to help me realize that johnny was healthy and whole again in heaven!Joann,we were truely lucky girls in every way ...we had the best.ican only hope that he and johnny meet again in heaven and laugh together once again!love to you and your family my friend!!!
