Robert Minkler Obituary
Windsor Heights
Robert L. Minkler, 88, passed from this life on Thursday, January 12, 2017. Visitation will be held from 10-11am, Tuesday, January 17, 2017 with a memorial service following at Westminster Presbyterian Church Chapel.
Robert was born on February 7, 1928 in South Bend, Indiana to Robert and Esther (Lindahl) Minkler. He attended South Bend Central High School and graduated from Indiana University. Robert married Sally Moulton on April 10, 1954 in Ravenna, Ohio and they made their home in Akron, Ohio. They moved to Des Moines in 1960. Robert retired from the State of Iowa Health Department.
Robert was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was a former deacon. He enjoyed playing bridge, crosswords, bowling and watching baseball.
Robert is survived by his children, Marilyn (Warren) Aldrich of Urbandale, Bob (Debra) Minkler of Urbandale, Barbara (John) Splinter of Hazel Green, WI, and Lucy (Jamie) Sipes of Haiku, HI; thirteen grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a niece, Carolyn Pinter and her family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; grandson, John Splinter; and a sister, Mary Grace Melander.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church. Online condolences are welcomed at IlesCares.com.
