Jimmie Strickland Styles, 81, passed on to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. Service: A funeral to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Interment: (private) in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Jimmie S. Styles was born in Daisy, Ga., on Nov. 22, 1933. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother (Memaw), homemaker, craftsman, seamstress, painter, doll maker and businesswoman. She met Jimmie Carter Styles, the love of her life, in small-town Georgia on the steps of the church at which his father (the Rev. Roy T. Styles) preached. She also frequently sang for church services and social gatherings. "The Jimmies" were married Jan. 4, 1951, and live a united life for 57 years before his passing in 2008. Jimmie raised three children while operating her own craft-oriented small businesses during the 1970s and 1980s when she specialized in pottery and silk flowers. In the 1990s and beyond, Jimmie became an enthusiastic researcher into family genealogy. In retirement, "The Jimmies" traveled extensively in their RV and enjoyed their growing family, which now includes 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie C. Styles; and her siblings, Russell, Margaret, Hazel and Atha. Survivors: Her children, Dennis Styles, Denise King and Duaine Styles; her grandchildren, Aaron Styles, Kimberly Vega, Melissa Styles, Jason King, Jessica Young, Samuel King, Hannah King, Roy King, Rachel King and Andrew Styles; and her great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Vega, Judah Vega, Carter Tadlock and Barrett Tadlock.
