"My first date"....Mom taught a painting class on Tuesday nights when I was young and Dad was in charge. I remember him taking me out and I would pretend that we were on a date and he was my boy friend. We would eat out and go to the only mall there was back then, Fourm 303, he would always let me buy something and we would always hold hands while window shopping and get some candy from the Wards candy counter. He never knew I was pretending that he was my boy friend and that I knew everyone else was jealous because I was with the best looking guy ever!!!!! and he treated me like I was a grown up lady, opening the doors and saying yes mam, I always felt so special on my dates with Daddy. I have another date with Daddy and he will again hold my hand for all to see, because he will be there when I meet the Lord, I don't know how long it will be but I am looking forward to my next "Date with Daddy". I love you Pop, thank you for being you and leading me. Mom you are so strong. I love you so much and will always be here for you.
My love

My husband, Don and I have known Mickey and Becky for over 50 years. We have known Mickey for at least 60 years. My most vivid rremembrance of Mickey when we were young , he was always happy, funny and witty. We were best of friends .I remember one time he was taking me to my boyfriend's house and ran out of gas.We laughed and said "of.all people to run out of gas with it had to be you". We remained good friends all our life. Mickey was a good man.I talk to him , after he knew he was very sick.He said "I have no complaints, I've had a great life". I dont ever remember Mickey complaining about anything. The world has lost a good man.We will miss our dear friend so very much.Becky you know we love you and are here for you. Our deepest sympathy to all the family. Don and Sharon

I worked for Mickey for only a short time in 1978, between college and law school. His dry wit was only surpassed by his work ethic. On many Fridays, he would have us stock brick inside the living room of a house. We'd come back on Monday and find that he'd built a hearth by himself. They were always creative and functional. He was fun to work for. You could never tell if those squinting eyes meant a smile or a frown because you couldn't see his mouth under the mustache! Mark Skinner and I got him when we decided to work in cut-offs and tennis shoes, instead of boots and jeans. It was just another day at the beach! It was one of the best jobs I ever had. None of my scaffolds collapsed, and I never fell off a roof, so it was all good. I last saw him in 1983 when I was clerking for a lawyer in Stephenville. I was at a store near Santo getting gas, and this guy yells, "HEY!" across the parking lot. How he recognized me, I'll never know. He told me then that he'd been through a lot of laborers, but he couldn't forget Mark Skinner and me. He wouldn't say if that was a good thing, or a bad thing! Monty, your dad was a great guy. He was the kind of guy who holds the world together. I learned from him. Thank you, Mickey. God bless.

My heart is broken at the loss of my dear cousin. My memories of him are many and all treasured. I will miss his quick wit and humor and treasure even more the carved pieces I have he made for me. Love to Becky, Merit, Monty and the rest of the family

I was sad to here that Mitch was called home to be with our Lord. I suppose that is selfish of me, but I will miss him. My winters in Texas will not be quite as bright without him. Mitch was a not only a very talented wood carver but, he was also always willing to help others. Mitch, with his humor, added greatly to every one

We only knew Mitch for a year but oh what a genuine gift it was for us. A person that would light up the room as he entered. A great artist, a great man. A person that we are extremely proud to call our friend.
To the Family: may your days of sorrow be few and your years of memories be many.
