Harry Heater Obituary

Heater Harry Stanton Heater, age 87, died on the morning of December 21, 2014 at Tuscany Gardens Nursing Home in Pataskala, Ohio, following a lengthy illness. Harry was born February 9, 1927 in Lost Creek, West Virginia, to the late Argyl and Beulah Heater. Harry grew up in Clarksburg West Virginia where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara. He served in the US Army for two years, where he was stationed in Japan. He then attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, graduating in Education. Harry taught high school in Bridgeport, near Clarksburg for a few years before relocating to Columbus, Ohio in 1954. Harry retired from Columbus Public Schools in 1982 after 28 years of service as a teacher and a counselor. Harry had a great love for his family and enjoyed all holiday get-togethers. Harry enjoyed playing basketball and did so through his early sixties. He loved Ohio State football and followed the women's OSU basketball team in his later years. In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Rebecca Heater, who, along with son Tom lovingly provided home care for him during the past two years. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara (Gainer) Heater; sons Mark (Patricia) Heater, Thomas Heater, Bruce (Juddaca) Heater; grandchildren Ryan (Amanda) Heater, Aaron (Tricia) Heater, Carrie (Leo) Haley, Thomas (Mindy) Heater, Christopher Heater, Bradley Heater, Ashton Heater, Michael Heater, Madeline Heater, Judd Heater, Lydia Heater, Caroline Heater; great-grandchildren Natalie, Gavin, Emma, Andrew, Leo, Lucie, Lexie, and Levi. The family would like to mention Harry's lifelong friends Rob Felton and Vernon Feen who, as with his family, are deeply affected by his passing. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at COTNER FUNERAL HOME in Reynoldsburg, from 3-7 p.m. A private family service will take place on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, immediately followed by interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Tom and family - thinking of you at this difficult time. It must be especially hard, given Becky's recent death and the approach of Christmas. How wonderful that you and Becky took on the not-so-easy task of caring your father for so long. Love, Bridget

Once again, I am sharing my condolences and prayers for the Heater family. Though only a neighbor, I enjoyed talking with Mr Heater and seeing him sitting in the front yard. He always greeted my little grandson and I whenever we went to the mailbox or walked around the neighborhood. He always had a kind word to say to guests who visited my home. I pray that God will carry you all as you again travel down the road to prepare for his services. Hugs for all.
