May the joys you experienced with Don live in your hearts as you rely on God for comfort day by day.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your husband Don Ohlmeyer. In 1955-56 When Don was in 5th grade at OLPH school in Glenview, I was his 5th grade teacher. There were 63 students in his class - but I have always remembered Don for his inquisitiveness and creativity. One memory is of Don and a classmate using yardsticks to show just how big a whale could be. For some reason, we had been talking about those mammals, and we could not visualize the size in the classroom. That afternoon was my day to monitor the buses that would take students home. Don and a friend used multiple yardsticks to illustrate the size. After all these years (I am now 87 years young), I can still see them laying down those sticks. I also recall that Don was instrumental in bringing the film Cross of Fire (about the KKK in Indiana) to TV. I always told my daughters and husband that Don was "my claim to fame." Rest in Peace! God bless your kind and gentle soul Don and love to LJ and 'the boys! I will forever regret not staying in touch with this giant of a man, mentor and good friend from the OCC years in NYC.
All the best,
Doug Werner

It made us very sad to hear about Don's passing. He was a good friend to Steve and me during a difficult time. He was lucky to have you, Linda. Clearly his family meant so very much to him. Simply, he was a good man and we are grateful to have known him.
