Billie, I worked with Dr. Benes in the emergency dept. at Hamot for many years until I left the dept., and eventually moved from the area. He was always a kind, caring, and talented physician with a sense of humor, and a joy to work with. My heart goes out to you in the loss of your dear husband.

To Dr. Benes Family,
In 1993, I was taken to Hamot in an ambulance as a result of a bicycle accident. I don't remember much of what happened except that a young, patient, competent physician diagnosed me with a concussion. Somehow, I vividly recall continuing to ask him his name and each time he responded "I'm Dr. Benes." I remembered his name for the past 21 years and I will always remember how kind and understanding he was during the many hours I spent in the ER.
I often wondered what happened to Dr. Benes and now I know he's looking down on all of us and continuing to take care of his family, and hopefully, former patients.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Judy Emling
