RICHARD BUGHER Obituary

RICHARD F. BUGHER JR., formerly of New Haven, died on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in Joplin, Mo. at work. He was a 1st Officer of a Lear for Aerojet Services. "He was gregarious, hilarious, hardworking, dedicated, and Fun!" Born Dec. 2, 1961, in Fort Wayne, he graduated New Haven High School and obtained his Associates Degree from Scottsdale Community College after moving to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1982. Rich always loved adventure and achieved his life-long goal as a FAA licensed commercial jet pilot. "He could pack more work, play, family, friends and laughter into 24 hours than most people can pack into a year. He wa's a devoted son, loyal yet pesky brother and greatly beloved uncle who could play harder and longer than his nieces and nephews." He is survived by his parents, Richard F. and Margaret L. Bugher; sister, Tricia Peterson and her children, Garrett, Erica and Michael Peterson, and Kiersten May; and his recent fiancé, Julie (Gross) Hasch. He was preceded in death by his younger, brother Kirk. Service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, in the main sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne, Fort Wayne, followed by a celebration of friends and family at 2 p.m. in Mckay Hall. "Rich was a bright light that enriched all who met him. His loss cannot be measured." Dear Peg, Dick, Tricia and family....I am so sorry I did not see this memorial earlier....Such an unexpected and huge loss for your family. Rick always stopped to see me and my parents when he was in Florida. He even got to join us at one of our rib cook-offs which he loved! He had such a great laugh....thinking of it makes me smile! The last time he was here it was after he reconnected with his sweetheart at his reunion. He was so happy to have found her. Your loss can never be measured, but treasure all the memories....God's peace to you all.

Godspeed My Friend - you will not be forgotten

May God grace Rich's Family (he always spoke so highly of You All), his Dear Julie, and all of his loved ones with the strength to help us understand and deal with our great and untimely loss.

Rich, I will not forget the last racquetball match I “finally” won recently! The beer YOU paid for in the loss went down “extra” easy at Applebee's that night. Likely due to the past 20+ years of matches you typically won. Or, you crushing me in any swimming race we ever did. Or, being a better barefoot water skier than all of us. The late 80's mid-morning (3am) furniture breaking (house full of spectators) wrestling match will now forevermore go down as a ‘DRAW'. You never gave (or took) an inch My Friend, and I will always love and miss that about you.

Cody and I will miss the 3 of us going out a couple times a year for your coveted All You Can Eat Crab Legs Specials. We got some “deals” Buddy!

Rich, thank you for being such a True, Honest, Tough, Competitive, GENUINE, CARING and GREAT Friend over the last 25+ years. I will dearly miss you My Friend.

I was saddened to hear of the untimely loss of our friend Rich. I knew him through my visits to the Tempe area to visit Rich's friends Scott Pepp and Eric Knutson. I was very fortunate they shared him as a friend with me. He was quite a charismatic and friendly person. One day he flew us completely around AZ in a little weed hopper making stops in Sedona, the Grand Canyon, south to Nogales and landing back at Sky Harbor's main runway in between the big jets. Another memorable day Rich and I drove around in his new Prius and worked out at the Y for a while. He thrashed me swimming laps in the pool but we were about dead even in some hotly contested racquetball games. I'll never forget his story about jeep tours, rattlesnakes and Tic Tac's. His life may have been short but I think he lived it to the fullest.

I only got to know Rich for a short period of time, as a dispatcher for the air ambulance service, I talked with him on several occasions, including late that evening hours before Our Lord called him home, my heart goes out to his family, though we have never met, Rich was a great person, a hard and dedicated worker who made my life alot easier with his work ethic and easy going attitude. His death caused me to look at my life and take each day as it may be your last.

My Dearest Richard, I praise OUR Lord for blessing my life with YOU, my priceless treasure! Thank you, My Love, for honoring me with your devotion and unconditional, deep, genuine love and for carefully choosing and gently picking me from all the other flowers in your life's path to cherish and adore for a lifetime--you rocked my world and now my life will never be the same again because you taught me how to trust, laugh, live and love again! You and the Lord will continue to be my forever everyday companions--never goodbye, My Precious Guy, only until the next time I see you (remember, you still owe me that promised Arizona 2-step dance!)Later in heaven's ballroom My Precious Gem . . . only God truly understands how deeply I am missing you and loved you! Your Sweet, Sweet Buttercup, Julie

To Rich's Family, friends and all that loved him, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Rich and I met over 20 years ago barefoot waterskiing. Over the years we had so much fun doing things like, waterskiing, riding dirt bikes, camping and just hanging out. Rich was a great friend who was always there in good times and in bad.

Rich (I know you are listening) Thanks for all the memories and thanks for being such a great friend.

We were so saddened to hear of Rich's passing. Although it has been around twenty years since we saw him last, we both remember him as just one of the nicest guys - always kind, always fun and always smiling. We didn't know about the engagement, but are not surprised they found each other - a beautiful match. Our thoughts and prayers are with Julie, Rich's family and all of his friends.

I've shared too many great memories with Rich to recall just one. I will never
forget however, is his love of life and everything in it. His sense of
adventure and eagerness to try anything new allowed him to live the exciting
and carefree life he had. He's in heaven now flying around freely and trying
things no one else ever thought..... of course, buying 10 of everything
they're selling. God Speed brother, I will always miss you.

Rich was a friend of mine through the Phoenix Pilots Group. When I met him years ago, he was working on military sky diving training aircraft. He always longed to be a commercial pilot and I was not surprised when he achieved this dream. Always full of smiles and happiness, he was a joy to be around. We stayed in touch off and on over the years. I heard from him briefly a few weeks ago so I couldn't have been more shocked when I heard today of his passing. He was a truly wonderful person and will be greatly missed by his aviator friends. Our heartfelt best wishes go out to Julie and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
