BARRY RAY, DO Age 80, of Huntington Woods, passed away April 20, 2017. It is with heavy hearts that we join to celebrate a man who was larger than life, Dr. Barry Ray Szczesny. He was known to all as the best joke and story teller, lighting up any room with his personality. He was a man with insatiable curiosity and amazed us all with his brilliance, quick wit, and humor. A lover of his wife, Judy, his children, grandchildren, books, food, and travel. Barry also dedicated 40 years of his life serving and helping his patients as a doctor of osteopathic medicine. He will be greatly missed. We love you Papa! Beloved husband of Judy. Loving father of Lisa Szczesny, Julie Szczesny, Jill (Roger) Andree, Mollie Whitelaw, and Barry (Angela) Szczesny. Dear brother of Ron (Sue) Szczesny, Donna (Richard) Buckley, and Cathy (Theo) Idema. Proud grandfather of Emma, Barry, Joseph, Fiona, Maeve, Liam, and Barry Doyle. Visitation Sunday 2-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Road (4 blocks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak. In state Monday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Royal Oak. Burial at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley. Memorials to U of D Jesuit High School Scholarship Fund are appreciated. Share your memories at

I worked with Dr Szczesny at Fraser Villa for many years. He was the BEST to work with!! It was an HONOR to know him and I concidered it an privilege to call him FRIEND!! My prayers are to Judy, his wife, and his children and their families. May God Bless you all✝✝
