Betty Sawyer Obituary

October 27, 1944 – August 28, 2017

YORK, S.C. - Betty Clampitt Sawyer, 72, passed away peacefully Monday, August 29, 2017 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Rock Hill, S.C.

She was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Bryson City, daughter of the late William Thomas and Lola Mae Fortner Clampett.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, William Troy Clampett and William Charles Clampett.
After her retirement as an accountant, Betty proudly volunteered at York Prep Academy. Most important to her was her precious family and she adored her children, grandchildren, partner and siblings.

She is survived by her children, David Eugene Sawyer (Ashley) of Charlotte, Jennifer Leigh Sawyer-Rayos (Mike) of Morrisville and Virginia "Ginger" Leigh Sawyer (Mike) of York, SC; partner, John "David" Anthony of York, SC; five grandchildren, Tess, Maddox, Luke, Emma and Gabriel; and siblings, James Lonnie Clampett (Karen), Margaret Ann Laugheed and Lassie Mae Crawford.
A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill with Pastor Ron Robinson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Betty's memory by mail to: The Salvation Army, Resource Development, P.O. Box 241808, Charlotte, NC 28224-1808; online at: https://give.salvationarmyusa.org/; or by phone at: 1.800.SAL.ARMY.
