May our Lord
keep all of you safe during this most difficult time. Look not to Uncle Calvin's death but to the full life he had and of all the lives he affected during his time here. He is surely one of the special ones.

Cal was my field supervisor when I was studying for my MSW. I loved the time I spent with him at the Campaign for Human Development. I was generous with his time and experience. Thank you Cal.

May God's peace be with you Shirley and family during this time. I worked under Cal at the Catholic Diocese on Maple and he allowed Carl Smith and I to build and operate the Inner-City Transportation Project, which enabled many people to access jobs outside our city. I respect all his efforts in behalf of humanity and wish comfort and joy for all who knew and loved him. His legacy will continue on in the history of people working for change in Grand Rapids. God speed!
