Ronald McLester Obituary

McLester, Ronald

On February 6, 2014 the Oneida Nation of Indians of Wisconsin lost a valued and unique community member. At 65, Ronald Lee McLester (Senior) died unexpectedly while working outdoors with his twin brother.

Ron was a lifelong member of Holy Apostles Church, serving on the cemetery committee and recently elected to the Vestry.

He retired from Georgia Pacific and later operated his own lawn care and snow removal service, Ron's Cut and Trim.

Ron was a dedicated son, loving husband, inspiring father and a strong community man who genuinely cared about "we" before "me". Ron was often cutting grass, hauling wood, plowing snow and most of the time, not for himself. When he was doing the things he loved, he was cutting grass, hauling wood, plowing snow but also fishing, camping, hunting, the Coffee Clutch and his new found love….BINGO!

Ron cared very deeply for the Oneida community, and he will be missed by all who knew him. He served the community on the Anna John Nursing Home Board and Oneida Commission on Aging.

Ron could not have been more proud of his sons. He loved his life, loved his wife and all the people he considered friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; son:, Ronald, Jr. (his partner Justin); mother, Pearl McLester; brother, Gordon (Betty); twin brother, Donald (Lori); sisters: Judy (Dan) Hawk, Winifred Thomas, and Pearl (Ken) Webster; brother-in-law Kevin (Kathy) Skenandore. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his son, Bryan; father, Lee McLester and sister Patsy McLester.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 4pm until 8pm with a drum ceremony at 5:45pm and the Oneida Hymn Singers from 6pm to 7pm. Visitation will continue at Holy Apostles Church, Oneida, on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 9:30 am until the funeral service at 11 am. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
