Sharon Brun Obituary

Sharon Gasaway Brun
1938-2015
Sharon Gasaway Brun at age 76, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015. She was the elder daughter of Ruth and Robert Gasaway. Sharon was born on July 10, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
At age 12, she and her family moved to Houston, Texas. Sharon attended Lamar High School, but when Bellaire High School opened she was a member of the first graduating class. She enjoyed her college years at Sam Houston State where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and majored in art. Her roommate introduced Sharon to Marcus Brun. They were happily married for fifty years and lived in the same home they bought as newlyweds the entire time.
Shary, as she was called by many family members, spent most of her life devoted to the care of others. Just weeks before her passing she was able to attend her granddaughter's wedding in Nashville where she visited with all of her family including her one year old great-granddaughter.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Marcus Brun and her parents. She is survived by her son, Bruce A. Brun of Centerville, Ohio; her daughter, Andrea Keeler and her husband Daniel of Midland. Her grandchildren are: Christopher Brun and his wife Amy of Nashville; Lauryn Littrell and husband Steven of Nashville; Andrew Keeler and Diana Keeler of Midland. Her great-granddaughter, Gizelle Brun. Her sister, Carole Nalle and her brother-in-law George of Austin. Nephew Brian Nalle and niece Karey Oddo of Austin. Sister-in-law Cyrene Fay Collins of Hollidaysburg, PA.

Flowers in hand, Sharon came to my front door after she heard of the death of my husband in 2005. That was a very kind action on her part. She did that sort of thing for many others I am sure. She was a kind and loving person! ...Marjorie

Andrea,
So very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I did not have the pleasure of knowing her, but your kindness and love towards me and my family are a tribute to her, I'm sure. You had to have learned your care and thoughtfulness toward others from a very beautiful Mother. Please know you and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.
You are loved. Sarah Beebe, Midland, TX.

My childhood was Mrs. Brun. Seems like I lived at her house growing up with Andrea. She loved her home, her husband, her kids, and all of us extra kids who always showed up who she welcomed dearly. She would do anything for all of those things and people. Her smile is infectious. She had the best laugh. I can still hear it. One rainy Saturday with nothing to do she had the bright idea to take us to Neiman Marcus for lunch. We dressed up, Andrea and I got our matching umbrellas and had a ladies lunch. We must have been in third grade. I cherish this memory. She made me feel so big and special. I love you Mrs. Brun. Even though now every time I watch Barefoot Contessa on Food Network I think, oh look, there's Mrs. Brun! :)
