John Duffey Obituary

Duffey, John R. Jackson Age 55, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home. He was born January 30, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Gerald & Barbara (Hines) Duffey. John graduated from Chelsea High School in 1978. He served in the Marines for 8 years. During his two tours of duty he was based at Camp Pendleton, CA, Camp Lejeune, NC, and Okinawa, Japan. John worked at Malloy Lithographing in Ann Arbor, and was manager of School House Apartments in Chelsea. He belonged to American Legion Post 324 in Jackson, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Michigan Center. He had a compassionate heart and a great sense of humor. He loved animals and people, often taking in strays and giving to those in need. He had a strong faith and an optimistic outlook. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his parents of Chelsea; his sisters, Debra Brown of Clarkston, Sheri (Mike) Cicirelli of Grass Lake, a niece, Christine (Mike) Lazarecki; a nephew, Michael Cicirelli; a great-niece, Kayden Lazarecki; and a special cousin, Kim Ilyasov. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 12:30 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

John was a great person, he had a heart of gold. He was tough yet gentle for his love of animals and his family. He would do anything for anybody. He was very proud of being a Marine and I loved how he would tease his dad how the Marines were better than the Army. He was strong willed and stubborn at times, traits he received from his mother. LOL. They were so much alike at times it caused problems but he loved his mama.The last time I saw him was at his mom's 80th birthday and he was very happy and in good spirits.
I'm so sad he is gone and that his family has to suffer through this hardship.He will live forever in our hearts and minds. God bless him and the family. Guard those streets of Heaven John, like a good Marine. Semper Fi

I am so sorry for your loss. John was a great man and what I remember most about him while growing up was his genuine nature to do the right thing. He Always was willing and ready to help out and did so with a willing heart (A testament to his upbringing). He was a good friend and I will miss him.
