Elmer Q. Read, 68, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Friday, May 9, 2014. He was born to Lloyd and Naomi (St. John) Read on May 27, 1945 in Independence, MO. He was united into marriage to Lila Ralston on December 14, 1990 in Independence, MO. Elmer was self-employed as a brick layer and retired in 1998. He was a member of the IMOI Pigeon Club. Elmer enjoyed bee keeping, pigeon racing, gardening, and golfing. Elmer was a member of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Blue Springs, MO. Survivors include wife Lila of Blue Springs, MO; son, Andrew D. Read (Careen) of Grain Valley, MO; daughter, Angela D. Summers of Lee's Summit, MO; stepsons, Wallace E. Ralston (Michelle) of Independence, MO, Aaron J. Ralston (Anjie) of Lee's Summit, MO; brothers, Earl L. Read (Rose Mary) of Brookfield, MO, William E. Read (Nina) of Blue Springs, MO, Howard Read (Ginger) of Independence, MO; sisters, Virginia F. Riley of Blue Springs, MO, Verla R. Kendell (Ira) of Mississippi; 9 grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:00 am on May 17th, 2014 at the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Blue Springs, MO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs, MO.
