Mary Bryde. What a unique individual! She and I were very dear friends back in our early to mid 20's in Kansas City. I hadn't seen or spoken to Mary in almost 30 years. Was saddened to find on line just now that she has passed on. We both were very strong, independent, bright and hard working young women. We shared a common bond-- along with a great love for great music (especially Joan Armatrading). We shared so much laughter together. We really did! :)) Thanks for the memories, Mary. Hope to see you on the other side.
My condolences to her children and husband, as well as her siblings.

Mary touched so many lives. Many of her "friends" were people she never met in person. But her love of life and of friendship itself was infectious. She was a kind and gentle soul. And she will be missed.

As Maura's elder brother, Mary and she used to be inseparable. I used to get a kick out of Mary's enthusiasm for life and the way she always put things into perspective with a humorus slant. She was entertaining to say to least, but more importantly seemed to put others ahead of herself (or was that a survival tactic with 9 kids in the family). I mourn the passing of Mary who brought a bevy of love, life and laughter into this world.

I knew Mary only as the daughter of friends and neighbors for five years. they were a wonderful and warm group of people and with each loss the world become lesser. I miss those that are gone.

Hello Brydes,
I'm Maura Houston's little sister Briana. I'm so sorry for your loss. I just felt compelled to write and say that as a 9 year old, having Mary visit our home was always special. She showed me what it meant to be truly self-expressed! I will never forget her contagious laughter, and cheerful smile.
Love & prayers to all of you,
Briana

I'm so sorry for dear Apple's family. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She loved her kids so much. She was so real. She had so many interests and talents. I'm very heart sad for her family. She loved the metaphor, that a golden thread would always connect mothers and their children together. The beautiful golden thread would be attached always, from a mother's heart to her child's heart forever, and the beautiful gold thread could never be broken.

Maura sent me the news and I want to say how very sorry I am for your loss. I have nothing but great memories from teenage years and the fun we had together springboard diving and fun times away from the pool. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I sure will miss dancing with this beautiful spark plug at parish functions. I will never forget the day a group of us went to clean a house for our friend, Ann, who was also battling cancer. Mary showed up, scarf on head, suffering from the effects of chemotherapy, and silently cleaned. What a beautiful soul, giving heart, and open and happy heart. My prayers are with the family and all who love her. Rest in peace Mary.
